Hi Julia this is what happens to an awful lot of people, my partner left me too , think they cant put up with the moaning , anger and frustration we get when where in a lot of pain ,

Thank you girls for your messages, like you say such a familiar story. My dx drags on for many months, but was lucky to be taking steroids on and off, which did help with the pain many are not so fortunate.
I remember you saying Sophie in an earlier post that your partner left you, felt very sorry for you. To suffer with all this and have that done to you, words cannot describe. I know you a one strong person, and was worthy of someone far better than him anyway.

What an excellent article and so very typical: the long wait for the right diagnosis, the pain, despair and confusion you feel, when you don`t know, what is going on. To be left by your partner as well is unforgiveable, but unfortunately I know, it happens.
I wish Elizabeth would join NRAS and our Forum. Here you are amongst friends, which helps the loneliness, that I certainly felt, before I joined up.

Same here- took 9 months ofr me to finaly get a diagnosis.
One of my workmates has started getting pain in both of her hands which has become severe over the last few days. Her gp is saying it's either rsi or carpal tunnel (i was told the same!!) Of course it may well be, nasty things, but I hope for her sake it's not RA. I am nagging her to ask for blood tests if things get worse or she gets pain in other joints.

Quite a lot has been said in the media that GPs are not picking things up quick enough. After various visits to a consultant ( didn t stay with him ) went to see a consultant privately, as I felt so desperate, he offered me a blood test which cost £50 which confirmed I had RA. Just couldn t understand why it hadn t been picked up sooner and still can t now.
Quite likely your friend doesn t have RA but it should be investigated now due to what we know, if matters are left.

Hi Julia, I read the article, it is so true for many and my heart goes out to each and everyone. I was one of the lucky ones I was diagnosed within 5 weeks. When I walked in my Rheumatologist said after one look at me she thought I had RA and a blood test would confirm it. I suppose although I was in dire straights at that point there is a lot to be said for it hitting you hard like that. It was more easy diagnosed. Having said that I had had may blood tests for all sorts to narrow things down and was getting worse by the week. She also said I would not walk out as bad as I had walked in, the Depomedrone Steroid gave me back movement. I hope and pray more people are diagnosed more quickly and something is found to wipe the faulty gene out altogether..........Lorna xx
